PRESERBA: PRototype of a securE and low coSt receivER for unmanned Vehicles (UAVs) Applications

Project Description

The initial technical objective of the project is the proof of concept of a secure positioning solution based on Galileo Public Regulated Service (PRS) for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The Galileo PRS service will provide accurate, robust and restricted (encrypted) information on position and time, to users with adequate signal receiving systems.

The scope of the project is based on the 'PRS Access Server' concept, an innovative client-server architecture in which the receiver captures samples of the Galileo PRS signal, delegating the decryption of the Galileo PRS signal and the calculation of the PVT solution (Position / Velocity / Time) in a secure central server.

The proposed solution does not require a cryptographic module in the receiver, which makes it particularly attractive for unmanned platforms, allowing a robust solution, that is implemented through low weight and cost shipped equipments.

Indra's Role

Indra is the leader of the project. Its activities are structured in two different phases:

• Concept and definition. Initial phase where the concept, requirements and architecture of the demonstrator must be consolidated by evaluating different design alternatives and technologies.
• Design, Development and Validation of the demonstrator following an iterative life cycle.
