Indra is awarded the contract worth over 40 million euros to manage the communications of the new rail lines in Santiago, Chile

The contract covers the implementation and maintenance of the communication systems of the Alameda-Melipilla Train (TAM) and Santiago-Batuco Train (TSB) projects that are set to connect over 13 municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago with the city center
Indra’s technology will secure more modern and efficient operations by facilitating real-time communication and information transmission between the trains, stations and personnel and the integrated operations control center, thus helping increase safety and improving the travel experience
It will implement a Critical Multiservice Network along with CCTV video surveillance solutions to reinforce the monitoring and control of the critical infrastructures

Indra has been awarded the contract by EFE Trenes de Chile, the state company that manages and operates the country’s railway services, for the deployment of the integrated communication system for the new Alameda-Melipilla and Santiago-Batuco services. This is one of Chile’s most significant mobility-related rail infrastructure projects in recent years, connecting the center of the capital city with over 13 peripheral areas of the Metropolitan Region.
The contract covers the design, development, construction, installation, configuration, integration, testing, commissioning, and acceptance of the communication systems for these two new sections, with Indra’s technology proving key to ensuring more modern and efficient management of rail communications with the highest cybersecurity standards throughout the network.
Indra’s solution will incorporate advanced technologies to support reliable communications and information transmission between trains, stations and personnel and the new integrated operations control center in real time. Its technology will centrally monitor and coordinate the communication systems via these facilities, making it possible to anticipate incidents, streamline decision-making, and deliver more efficient railway operations.
The company will also deploy a Critical Multiservice Network, as well as closed-circuit television (CCTV) video surveillance, public address systems for voice announcements, telephony, intercoms, and access control. In addition, it will implement its In-Mova Traffic platform for monitoring and managing the data of the critical infrastructures, and a screen-based passenger information system to provide users with information, each backed by a robust cybersecurity platform. It will also incorporate the two control centers designed for the operating and comprehensive monitoring of all of the railway systems.

He also stressed that the State Railways Company (EFE Trenes de Chile) advocates providing modern and reliable services for citizens and promoting smarter, more sustainable, safer, and people-centered transportation. “This contract will reaffirm our commitment to the development of Chile’s railways and improving the quality of life of thousands of users”, he stated.
Technology to transform mobility in Chile
The contract will further establish Indra as a strategic technological partner for the modernization of Chile’s railroads. The company has developed key solutions for EFE Trenes de Chile, such as the ticketing system for Alameda-Nos, and begun those for Biotren and Metro Valparaíso, as well as the MPLS Santiago-Concepción network.
Indra has extensive experience of developing projects to improve mobility in the country, having deployed a comprehensive ticketing solution that includes self-service machines, on-board validators, and access control systems on the Metro of Santiago, Chile, one of the largest and most modern networks in Latin America.
It has also implemented its In-Mova Traffic platform for traffic and infrastructure management and free-flow tolling technology in the El Melón tunnel in Chile, and deployed its pioneering port digitization platform in the Port of Valparaiso.
