Indra and SAES sign a collaboration agreement on infrastructure protection, acoustic systems and simulation
The two companies will strengthen their ties at a time when the protection of ports, maritime routes and energy and maritime communication infrastructures is undergoing steady growth
They will seek to develop cutting-edge technologies to enable the Navy to achieve the goals set out in its 2050 Vision and compete with state-of-the-art solutions on the global stage
On Tuesday, Indra and SAES met at Feindef, the international trade fair on defence taking place this week in Madrid, to sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the areas of infrastructure protection, acoustic systems and simulation.
Indra Group Executive Chairman Ángel Escribano, Javier Mármol, the President of SAES and César Solano, General manager of SAES, signed the agreement at a ceremony held at Indra’s stand during the fair.
Escribano stated that “Indra is committed to fostering collaboration and the collective work of Spanish industry to develop cutting-edge solutions, ensure the sovereignty and strategic autonomy of our Armed Forces and allies and enable them to compete at the highest level around the world”.
As for Mármol, he stated that “SAES is a company that’s highly specialized in underwater acoustics and multi-influence, supplying advanced systems to the Navy and advocating collaboration as the key to open and more seamless and efficient innovation”.
The two companies are forging closer ties at a time when the need to guarantee free access to shipping lanes, protect communication and energy infrastructures at sea and ensure the ever-increasing security of ports. They are also preparing to support the Navy as it complies with its 2050 Vision, one of the pillars of which is to maintain the fleet at the forefront of technology with a view to adapting to the increasingly complex and volatile global environment.
In this respect, Indra is working on key European R&D projects such as SMAUG (Smart Maritime and Underwater Guardian), which combines the use of intelligence and advanced algorithms with different acoustic sensors and drones to reinforce port security. The company has also equipped the Navy’s most modern ships with electronic defence systems, radars and communication systems, which are also exported worldwide and used by highly advanced navies. It is currently leveraging the capabilities of its solutions with its IndraMind intelligence platform and preparing them to operate in highly digitalized theaters of operations involving collaborative combat.
