SALTO: reuSable strAtegic space Launcher Technologies & Operations

Description of the project
The SALTO aims to raise the maturity level of the first European reusable rocket technology, significantly reduce launch costs, ensure improvements in the environmental footprint and strengthen Europe’s competitiveness in strategic space missions.
Industrial partners

Indra´s rol
Indra Space contributed to SALTO taking the responsibility of the control laws design and flight dynamic analysis of the T3 demonstrator, as well as the FQA, stability and controllability assessment in support to the consolidation of the configuration, in particular of the grid fins design. The applicability of the solutions identified to the future full scale launcher concept has been evaluated as part of the end-to-end flight mechanics assessment. Additionally, Indra Space contributed to the technology maturation campaign carried out with the T1H demonstrator taking care of the automated post-fight analysis, the development and test of flight dynamics HMS, and the test of an alternative GNSS receiver.
Universities and technology centers

Tecnologies employed
Optimized Guidance (Successive Convexification), Robust Control, Hybrid Navigation, Flying Qualities Analysis, hypersonic supersonic and subsonic Flight Dynamics, GNSS receiver, Health Monitoring Systems, Post-Flight Analysis (trajectory reconstruction).
