He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (1980) and a Master's in Financial and Economic Management from ESADE (1987).

He has over 40 years of experience in leading major corporations in the infrastructure, environment, energy, and public services sectors. Throughout his career, he has built a strong track record in corporate governance and on the Boards of Directors of holdings and listed multinational companies in international settings, including Europe, the Americas, and Asia. He also specializes in corporate strategy, global operations, industrial investment, and transformation processes.

He began his professional career in the public sector, linked to Barcelona's urban and infrastructural transformation, which provided him with a very solid foundation in planning, infrastructure management, and relations with public administrations, working on complex projects with a significant territorial impact.

In 1995, he joined AGBAR, a leading group in integrated water cycle management, where he spent most of his professional career holding various positions of great responsibility, including the role of Chief Executive Officer from 2002 and Executive Chairman from 2010. Under his leadership, he drove the group's corporate transformation and international expansion, particularly in Europe and the Americas.

Furthermore, during his tenure as Executive Chairman of AGBAR, he combined these responsibilities with international-level roles as Executive Vice President of Suez (2013–2022) and Executive Vice President of Veolia (2022–2024), overseeing business operations in Iberia, Latin America, Southern Europe, and the United States.

From January 2024 to May 2025, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Criteria Caixa, during a period marked by a more proactive corporate and investment strategy. Currently, since April 2026, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Indra Group.
