Indra Group acquires a holding in the company Qilimanjaro to speed up the application of quantum physics in physics and robotics

The operation will enable Indramind to access a unique quantum technology, with strategic applications in physical artificial intelligence, precision robotics, autonomous systems, electronic warfare, optimisation and advanced materials
The collaboration between the two companies will strengthen Indra Group’s positioning in a domain that is crucial for Defence and Security, and will contribute to bolstering Spain’s technological sovereignty in the world of quantum computing
The investment in Kilimanjaro reinforces the Indra Group's commitment to Catalonia, a European hub for innovation, quantum technologies, and supercomputing
Indra Group, through IndraMind, has invested 10 million euros in Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, a Spanish company that specializes in quantum computing, with the aim of strengthening its positioning in this emerging technology with great potential for the development of advanced solutions in artificial intelligence, defence and security.
Qilimanjaro is the only Spanish full-stack quantum computing company. It emerged in 2019 and develops its own quantum chips, software and algorithms, and integrates the necessary components to build and operate complete quantum computers. Its main distinguishing technological asset is multimodal quantum computing (digital and analog) based on fluxonium superconductor qubits.
The strategic importance of its technological capacity consists in its great potential to tackle complex problems in fields such as optimization, simulation and artificial intelligence, for which current technologies do not offer efficient solutions. On this basis, IndraMind will increase its capabilities in areas such as physical artificial intelligence, robotics and the simulation of complex systems, including phenomena related to energy, materials, electromagnetism and the behavior of autonomous systems. Such applications are especially important for developing next-generation solutions, which will be fundamental in the fields of defence, security and space, as well as in the protection of other critical infrastructures and systems.
Furthermore, the injection of capital will allow Qilimanjaro to upscale and industrialize its quantum systems, forge ahead in developing new generations of chips and increasing its manufacturing and deployment capacity, bolstering a technological capability developed in Spain, and contributing to a greater European technological autonomy in quantum computing.
“Quantum computing will constitute a decisive leap in the evolution of artificial intelligence and in its capacity to solve problems of enormous complexity. With this operation, Indra Group strengthens its position in this strategic sphere and IndraMind expands its capabilities with which it can develop sovereign and unique solutions for defence, security and industry”, emphasises Ignacio Martinez, IndraMind general manager.
For his part, Enric Blasco, director of the Indra Group in Catalonia, highlighted the importance of a project that “helps drive our growth strategy in the region and reinforces our role as a driving force in its ecosystem of innovation, supercomputing, and quantum technologies—factors that have made it one of Europe’s leading hubs in areas critical to our company’s operations.”
The Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), attached to the Ministry for Digital and Civil Service Transformation, has also strengthened its commitment to Qilimanjaro in the form of a new investment. In addition, the company plans to complete its round of financing during the last quarter of the year with the participation of Avançsa and other current investors.
“The renewed commitment of the SETT and the entry of Indra Group are sovereign capital and industrial capital working together to protect and accelerate Spain’s technological autonomy. With them we are joining forces to bring quantum computing closer to the strategic sectors of industry, and in order that the quantum computing that is built in Spain continues to grow in Spain”, says Marta P. Estarellas, CEO of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech.
In this way, the collaboration between Indra Group and Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech opens the door to the joint development of pilots in high-priority areas and to the integration of quantum computing on the IndraMind platform, while at the same time speeding up the arrival of quantum computing for industrial applications and strengthening Spain’s position in a technology that will be strategic for European competitiveness and technological sovereignty.
