Indra Group anticipates the future of smart mobility with connected vehicle technology and digital infrastructures

The company is attending Intertraffic 2026 to showcase its leadership of advanced solutions for more efficient, safe, and sustainable traffic management, based on technologies capable of connecting infrastructures, vehicles, control centers, and operators in real time
It will explain how it’s redefining the future of tolls with gantry-free solutions to eliminate intrusive elements on the asphalt and integrate vehicle detection and identification technologies such as 3D LiDAR, artificial intelligence systems, and V2X communications
Indra has modernized the Dublin Tunnel’s tolling technology and it helps manage traffic in cities such as London, where its activity focuses on the Silvertown and Hindhead Tunnels, 12 road tunnels and over 90 kilometers of metropolitan roads
Indra Group is boosting its standing as a global leader and a trailblazing company for connected vehicles and smart mobility solutions at Intertraffic 2026, one of the world’s flagship events for traffic and mobility operators. It will present the innovative technology with which it’s redefining traffic management and transportation infrastructures at this international trade fair.
During this year’s edition, Indra will bolster its capacity to anticipate the mobility needs of the future with advanced traffic management solutions, connected vehicle technologies, and intelligent systems that are able to connect infrastructures, vehicles, control centers, and operators in real time. Its proposal integrates V2X communications, advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, real-time analytics, and highly resilient cloud platforms, thereby configuring a comprehensive intelligent infrastructure model prepared for autonomous and connected vehicles and new mobility services.
The main innovations presented by the company will include its free-flow tolling solution, which eliminates the traditional elements positioned on the road and any intrusive elements on the asphalt that oblige drivers to stop or slow down. The system is based on a compact and easy-to-deploy totem that integrates advanced technologies such as 3D LiDAR, artificial vision, artificial intelligence, and V2X communications for mobility and toll services in a single location.
Thanks to this architecture, the system is capable of the real-time detection, classification, and tracking of vehicles in a fully automatic and accurate manner, including at high speeds and in all meteorological conditions.
Indra’s solution, which is already in operation, captures images of license plates and axles, obtains 3D profiles, identifies the number of occupants, and correlates all of the data so as to apply reliable rates as it receives information from connected vehicles, while it can also send traffic and toll information without the need for any other device or application. In addition to optimizing the functioning of the toll, it significantly reduces the physical infrastructure required, minimizes the installation and maintenance costs, and increases traveler safety.
With Indra Group’s solutions, highways and operators will take a decisive step towards fully interrelated infrastructures that are ready for connected and autonomous vehicles. The integration of technologies such as V2X connected vehicles, artificial intelligence, advanced sensors, and real-time analytics will facilitate more efficient and safer traffic management, optimize infrastructure operations and provide a smoother mobility experience for users.
With these solutions Indra Group will foster a new, more sustainable, and safer mobility model based on smart infrastructures capable of adapting to the needs of traffic and users in real time.
Intelligent traffic management for critical infrastructures
At InterTraffic Indra Group will present In-Mova Traffic, its advanced platform for the integrated management of urban and interurban traffic that already operates in some of the most complex road infrastructures in Europe. These include the Silvertown Tunnel in London, a strategic infrastructure under the River Thames whose management integrates intelligent traffic management (ITS) systems, communications, and real-time monitoring to optimize traffic operations and improve the response to incidents.
The company also has a significant presence in Ireland, where its technology can be found in key mobility projects such as the Dublin Tunnel, with the modernization of its toll system helping improve traffic safety and efficiency.
In-Mova Traffic also constitutes the basis for traffic management platforms deployed in the cloud for the DGT (Directorate-General for Traffic) in Spain. Indra’s technology integrates data from the eight centers spread across the country, it processes and analyzes them, and it offers the information to operators in an accessible and secure manner in order to ensure more effective decision making.
International leadership of the Mobility business
With over 2,500 mobility projects in more than 100 cities around the world, Indra continues to drive solutions that make transportation and mobility more efficient, safe, and sustainable.
Indra is one of the top three suppliers of public transport management systems worldwide, a position strengthened by the recent contract awarded by Transport for London (TfL), one of the largest in the company’s history. As a result of this agreement, Indra will operate, maintain, and develop the ticketing system of the entire London transport network until 2034, regarded as one of the most advanced of its kind in the Western world.
